Lola had been planning her big Sunday out all week.
While other cockapoos were chasing tennis balls in the park, Lola was studying the fixture list and carefully selecting her outfit — an Arsenal shirt, obviously. She has standards.
At precisely 1:58pm, she trotted into the Wheatsheaf like she owned the place. Tail high. Ears bouncing. Absolute confidence.
The regulars barely looked up — they’re used to characters in there — but when Lola hopped up onto the bar, paws perfectly placed, there was a respectful silence.
A wine glass appeared beside her.
Now before anyone calls the RSPCA, let’s be clear: Lola is strictly here for the vibes. She doesn’t actually drink the wine. She just likes the aesthetic. Very continental. Very “I’ll have the house red.”
Her eyes flicked to the big screen as the football kicked off.
When Arsenal attacked, she leaned forward intensely.
When Tottenham had possession, she gave a low, judgemental huff.
When someone mentioned Nottingham Forest v Liverpool earlier, she pretended not to hear — “I’m only here for the important game,” her expression said.
By half-time she’d made three new friends, claimed a bar stool as her throne, and was accepting head scratches like a celebrity on a meet-and-greet tour.
If you’re looking for her next Sunday, don’t bother checking the park.
She’ll be at the Wheatsheaf — here for the drinks, the goals… and the attention. 🐾🍷⚽
Just a reminder that all well behaved doggies are welcome here! Free treats available and fresh water.
